From Sacred Heart to a sophisticated home

The client appointed the LuxLife Interiors in Spring 2016 while the property was under development. After an initial meeting with our clients and the developer at the property, we had a clear understanding of the couple’s undoubted vision to bring the property back to life whilst reflecting its history and culture. Our brief was to create a highly elegant, luxurious yet comfortable home throughout, using the very best materials and predominantly luxury Italian furniture, lighting and accessories. In order to co-ordinate all aspects of the project, every single detail was of paramount importance, to both ourselves and our client, even down to the wastepaper baskets in the bathrooms, which were flown in from the US. The entire process was a collaborative effort with the client, developer and team of tradesmen.

Lux Life Interiors have changed my life and my home. Their interior design skills and eye for getting things just right is amazing. I would recommend Lux Life 100% to any home owner or business. I only wish I knew about them and realised that I could have interior design expertise in my life many years ago. Having had Jane and Soulla refurbish my whole home, I now realise that I have wasted so much money and made so many mistakes over the course of around 25 years. I have not been home furniture or home accessories shopping for over 4 years now. They have sourced everything for me and have even helped me with designs outside of their scope, ie door number design and its location, dining sets, etc, and I am so so grateful for them for this. It is funny how I feel so hopeless in making decisions now without their help! I could not vouch for them enough. If you get the opportunity to work with them, please don't waste it ... it will change you and your home / business immensely.

When asked to work on this exciting development, we instantly understood why our widely travelled client, had fallen in love with the undeniable elegance of the once Sacred Heart convent. Originally known as Hill House and built in the 1790s, it has now been converted into 9 properties and sensitively renovated throughout. Steeped in history, with its striking original features, this Grade II-listed building boasts superb classical proportions.

Before After

On entering the property through the imposing front door, you are captured by the historic character of the ornate fireplace in the lobby and the impressive grand entrance hall, paved with black and white marble, and lined with carved oak panelling.  From this rises a carved-oak sweeping staircase, overlooked by the original stained-glass windows that were made by the workshops of William Morris. These are stunningly lit by the mighty crystal chandelier, that is clearly visible from the frontage.

The sitting/dining room draws on a classic opulent style, to give the space warmth, splendour and a refined elegance. The floor to ceiling antique mirrored walls, opulent navy velvet upholstery and majestic gold lights, all add strength in their scale.

The master bedroom was designed to have a truly sumptuous feel. With smoked glass either side of the imposing padded headboard, the specially crafted crystal chandeliers hang elegantly over the reverse antique mirrored chests. The rich bronzes and deep warm tones create a glorious opulence.

In complete contrast, the second bedroom has been given a truly heavenly feel. Combining white and ivory tones with stunning textures and layers, gives dimension and a luxurious grace. The angelic vintage mural in the en-suite adds that atmospheric, ethereal touch.

By pulling together unique pieces, beautiful sumptuous fabrics, bespoke upholstery and lighting, together with rich colours and layers, our aim was to capture and celebrate the historic character and grandeur of this landmark building. With our exacting attention to detail and empathetic understanding of our clients’ tastes and aspirations, our focus was always to exceed expectations, by helping to achieve a beautiful, discerning, yet supremely functional home, personal to our client.
